.ebd file size is much larger than TotalItemSize + TotalDeletedItemSize + White space

Our Exchange 2013 CU1 system includes 2 server forming an DAG.

We have a DB with more than 1600 mailboxes. The .edb file size is currently 505 GB. I have run the Get-MailboxStatistics and Get-MailboxDatabase -Status | Select-Object Name, Server,AvailableNewMailboxSpace commands and calculated that TotalItemSize + TotalDeletedItemSize took only nearly 460 GB, and the white space is only few MB. So why does it take us additional 45 GB of space?

Another odd thing is we have a scheduled Full Windows Server Backup task running every night. The transaction logs of 3rd April up to now (12th April) are still exist, although the backup completed successfully. Do we need to take care of them?

Thank you!
