I have installed Exchange 2013 CU2 into my existing Exchange 2010 SP3 UR1 environment and I am having some issues with migrating mailboxes into Exchange 2013 and with Exchange 2013 enumerating the abilities of my domain controllers. In looking at the logs for my Exchange 2013 mailbox server, I'm receiving the following MSExchange ADAccess 2080 message, which is causing me some concern:
Process Microsoft.Exchange.Directory.TopologyService.exe (PID=2252). Exchange Active Directory Provider has discovered the following servers with the following characteristics:
(Server name | Roles | Enabled | Reachability | Synchronized | GC capable | PDC | SACL right | Critical Data | Netlogon | OS Version)
In-site:
XXX-DC.hds.ad.ucsd.edu CD- 1 6 7 1 0 1 1 6 1
YYY-DC.hds.ad.ucsd.edu CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1
ZZZ-DC.hds.ad.ucsd.edu CDG 1 7 7 1 0 1 1 7 1
For whatever reason, my mailbox server thinks that XXX-DC is "GC capable" even though it does not identify XXX-DC as offering the global catalog role. XXX-DC is not a global catalog server, so there's definitely something going on with the way my Exchange 2013 mailbox server is enumerating DC resources, and I think it might be the underlying cause of my migration issues. Regardless, it's definitely something that needs to be addressed. Has anybody else run into this or found a solution for fixing this obvious issue? Thanks in advance. - Erik
