Email Address Policies - using different attributes

Hi

I am attempting to set up a new email address policy, but for the first part of the email address (before the @ symbol), I need to utilise different attributes - it is not contained in first name, last name etc.

The text I require is contained in one of the following AD attributes (if the last seven characters can be ignored, but they could be different lengths):

  • cn
  • name (not display name)

It is also contained in the following attributes (if the first four characters can be ignored):

  • sAMAccountName
  • mailNickname
  • alias

Does anyone know if I can manipulate any of the above attributes to create a string for an email address to go into an email address policy?

I understand that alias can be referred to with "%m", but I don't know if I can ignore the first 4 characters. The first 4 characters will always be the same.

Thanks

Paul
