I'm receiving the 404 error, "the website you are looking for has been removed, changed or it temporarily unavailable" message when attempting to log into the ecp. The requested url is /ecp/login.aspx. We are running a single Exchange installation on a dedicated server.
From research I can see that this problem isn't unique to us and I've found multiple threads about it on technet but I have been unable to find a workable solution. What is strange about this is that the problem seems to be intermittent. I can always reach the login page and enter credentials before receiving the error. But I can get in eventually if I try a couple different things. I've had success when switching to a different url (see list below) and logging in again, but it will take three to five tries. I haven't found a specific pattern, no url will let me in on the first try, and there doesn't seem to be a particular url that does the trick. Sometimes all I need to do is repeatedly refresh the error page. Flushing DNS, restarting the websites in IIS doesn't seem to help. We don't have any problems with the owa.
https://mail.domain.com/ecp
https://localhost.com/ecp
https://server.domain.local/ecp
https://server.domain.local/ecp?ExchClientVer=15
I've tried recreating the virtual directories without success and have confirmed that the authentication settings are correct for those directories but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. It isn't a major problem right now as I can always get it eventually, and I don't have any problems when using the shell but it is annoying. Any ideas?
