I am new to Exchange platform, and this was my first install. I followed a good tutorial found on Microsoft's website, and I was receiving and sending mail in no time.
I have just a couple of specific issues that I am hoping the wonderful seasoned folks of this forum might shed some light on.
First, when I try to connect Outlook 2013 to Exchange, it finds and authenticates the user, but when trying to open Outlook, fails complaining : "Cannot start microsoft outlook. cannot open the outlook window. the set of folders cannot be opened. you must connect to microsoft exchange with the current profile before you can synchronize with your outlook data file (.ost)" I am not logged onto a domain account though the server is setup as a domain controller (small office, will never go for a dedicated exchange box). If I configure Outlook to use HTTPS, it connects. Where to begin? I've exhausted everything I could via google/bing to find a solution and thus far have come up empty handed.
Second, I am trying to bring in their existing mail from old PST files. The mail exists just fine in these PST files. When I open the PST and copy the email in, it all copies just fine, but after a few seconds a good chunk of it just disappears without a trace. Depending on how many emails are in a particular folder, it is sometimes ALL the mail. I have the malware scanning now turned off and I've looked everywhere I can and from what I can tell,auto archiving is turned off. Help!
Third, and as a result of the previous (second) question, I have some email thats been copied, some not. Once the above question is resolved, is there a good solid way to re-import this email, and secondly, catch and not create duplicate messages?
