In customer's exchange environment (single Exchange 2010 SP3 Server) we have dedicated groups for mail Distribution. In ADDS these groups are always configured as distribution groups.
Now the problem: Some of these groups change their type from distribution group to security group. This happens on a quite random basis and not very often (about five different groups are affected per week).
Here our results from our own investigations:
By analyzing ADDS audit logs we identified Exchange 2010 Server's principal (its computer account) as trigger for the group type conversion. After that we analyzed Exchange Servers AdminAuditLogs (which are configured to log the usage of all cmdlets). To our
surprise, nothing special is logged in the time range when the group conversion takes place.<o:p></o:p>
Do you have any idea what could cause these group conversions?
