DB activation in DAG is not seamless

One user (who happens to be my boss' boss) is very sensitive to changing the active database copy in the DAG. Whenever I do so, Outlook hangs for him. Any thoughts?

Exchange 2013 CU1 MailboxRestore never gets past "InProgress"

New-MailboxRestoreRequest never finishes. I have to set it as a high priority to get it to even start, but after it starts, it just hangs.

Here is the command I ran to do the RestoreRequest from a recoveryDB to a target user folder

New-MailboxRestoreRequest -SourceDatabase RecoveryDB1 -SourceStoreMailbox "test exchange" -TargetMailbox "Exchange Recovery" -TargetRootFolder "ExTestRecovered" -AllowLegacyDNMismatch -SkipMerging StorageProviderForSource -Priority Emergency

The -SkipMerging StorageProviderFor switch is recommended in the release notes, and fails without it.

Doing a Get-MailboxRestoreRequest shows me "InProgress", but when viewing the statistics, the StatusDetail shows Relinquished, with no good indication as to why.

SenderID / SPF TmpError

I have noticed that our Exchange 2013 Server is now timing out for all SenderID / SPF checks:

X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SenderIdResult: TempError
Received-SPF: TempError (exchange.domain.local: error in processing during lookup of user@domain.com: DNS timeout)

If I check via nslookup this also times out with "DNS request timed out. Timeout was 2 seconds.":

nslookup -type=txt gmail.com

The odd thing is, other nslookup's ("type=mx" or "type=a") resolve fine.

This used to work without a problem. Unfortunately we've had some Windows and Router updates since so I'm not sure where the problem could be.

Any pointers appreciated.

not receiving email

One user has had three instances of not receiving an email when she was copied. In two of the instances, she was part of a group, in the other instance someone sent the email to her and another person. In all three cases, the email had an attachment, although the attachments were small - only about 60kb in each email. In all three cases, the email was sent to this user, who is inside our network, by a user also inside our network, a different sender each time. The other users received the emails. If the sender sent her the same email with the same attachment, but only to her, she received it. The sender did not receive any kind of error indicating that email couldn't be delivered. The emails didn't go to her junk folder or our quarantine service. I was not able to duplicate the problem, even though one of the emails she didn't receive was from me. We are using Exchange 2007 on our own Windows 2003 server. Does anyone have any ideas about what could cause this? Is there any way I can look up log information about these emails that would tell why they went to the other users but not her? Thanks in advance.

Mail tracking Log Issue of Exchange 2013

Hello Everyone,

As you know that Exchange 2010 has Message tracking Log Explorer but Exchange 2013 has no tracking Log Explorer.

I found some exchangeshell command to view the Mail tracking Log, It is not as like as exchange 2010. In exchange 2010, Tracking Log give Sender, Recipient address and time. But exchange 2013 not give.

Could you please give suggestion how to i see the Tracking Log with sender, recipient address and time. And i need schedule mail of tracking Log everyday.

Exchange 2013 stops receiving external email after about 8 hours

Hello,

Just installed 2013 excahnge server 3 days ago. We noticed after the first night that we did not receive any external emails throughout the night.  I could not find anything wrong with receive connectors.  Telnet works internally when this happens but NO access from public side testing with telnet.  After I reboot the exchange server everything functions just fine and normal for about 8 hours until it happens again.

I dont know what to check or look for at this point.  Very new to exchange 2013.  Any kind of advice would be helpful at this time.

It is not a firewall issue.  Same firewall and set of rules that we use for other/old mail servers.  We only have 1 exchange server that has all roles.

"Federation or Auth certificate not found" Error in Event Viewer But all Services are Running fine

I am getting this error message in the Event Viewer on the Exchange server 2013:

"Federation or Auth certificate not found: 52531253A7D6620000000000000000B2ACDA1E1D0775988.
Unable to find the certificate in the local or neighboring sites.
Confirm that the certificate is available in your topology and if necessary, reset the certificate on the Federation Trust to a valid certificate using Set-FederationTrust or Set-AuthConfig.  
The certificate may take time to propagate to the local or neighboring sites."

I believe this was one of the test certificates that I had loaded when testing the system but I deleted.  This certificate doesn't load when I run "Get-ExchangeCertificate" from the console.  I only have one SSL certificate for everything and everything is working.  So why am I getting this message in the event viewer?  How can I remove this error from the event viewer?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

HI,

Some users are getting below error when sending mails to external accounts. we have exchnage 2010 and issue occurs only when sending mails outside the org.

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      'abc@xyz.com' on 6/7/2013 11:20 AM
            This message could not be sent. Try sending the message again later, or contact your network administrator.  Error is [0x80004005-00000000-00000000].

Some articles i found were pointing to max. recipients limits issue. But the issue happens even when sending mail to a single recipient ( SO i guess this is not the issue here ). Also mails are going out fine when sent throught through OWA.
Recreation of outlook cache profile also seems to resolve the issue.

Hi All,

I need some suggestions.

User 1:

Alias : test1 (in D1 domain )
email : test1@domain.com

User2:

Alias : test2 ( in D2 Domain )
email: test2@domain.com

Now i did some activity...

>disconnected the mailboxes for user1 and user2 (mailboxes are on the same database on Exchange 2010 )
>changed user2 alias from test2 to test1
>connected user1 mailbox to user2 (which now has alias as test1)
>added test1@domain.com and other SMTP address of user 1 to user2 account

Now do i need to add the ExchangeLegacy DN value of user1 as a X500 address in user2 for proper email flow for user2.......i am really confused about this LegacyDN thing...

Journal Rule Not Taking Effect

Running Exch 2013 CU1 on 4 servers, 2 CAS, 2 MBX in a mixed environment with Exch 2007, same server setup.

First off, my goal is to stop the HealthMailbox and InboundProxy email messages from ending up in the journal mailbox.

I have created a journal rule to journal all messages sent to a dynamic distribution group in which the HealthMailboxes are not members.  No messages are being archived to the journal mailbox.

The dynamic group returns the members that it should.


I found this document from MS KB 2823959 to stop the probes, but has not stopped all of them.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

  1. เราสามารถซื้อ licence exchange 1 licence เพื่อใช้กับ server ทั้งสามตัวได้ไหมค่ะ เพราะว่า server แต่ละตัวจะนำเอา feature ของ exchange มาแยกใช้งานบน server แต่ละตัว
  2. เราควรจะเลือกใช้ server exchange ชนิด standard หรือ enterprise ดีค่ะ
  3. CAL ที่จะเลือกมาใช้ควรเป็นชนิด per user หรือ per device ดีค่ะ

Exchange 2013 Database dismounted

I have exchange 2013 running on windows server 2012.  The mailbox database which is only about 25 GB in size keeps dismounting on it's own.  The only events I see in the log are

At '6/13/2013 11:22:43 AM' database copy '#######' on this server appears to have an I/O error that it may be able to repair.  To help identify the failure, consult the Event log on the server for other storage and "ExchangeStoreDb" events. Service recovery was attempted by failover to another copy. The failover was unsuccessful in restoring the service because of the following error: 'There is only one copy of this mailbox database (########). Automatic recovery is not available..

At '6/13/2013 11:22:46 AM', the copy of database '########' on this server encountered an error during the mount operation. For more information, consult the Event log on the server for "ExchangeStoreDb" or "MSExchangeRepl" events. The mount operation will be tried again automatically.

Exchange 2010 : Incremental backups, seen as Full ones

Hi,


When I use the powershell command (or the GUI) to check when did my last incremental backups occured, exchange seems to think that my incremental backups are full backups.

I use Symantec Backup Exec 2012 as backup software.

We have a DAG 2010 and 2 datastores are backed up, only the active copies.

Could someone tell me why Exchange sees these as Full backups please ?

I'm trying to switch a user mailbox to a Room Mailbox but my server alway return the same error

This problem is present on 2 of my Exchange 2013 CU1 environnement.

I know there are some for OWA but can't find any related to Outlook Anywhere?

Hi,

 I have been trying out to upload a pst file from my account to another test account as a proof of concept before deploying it domain wide. However, I ran into this error with no files uploaded to office 365.  I get the error:

 The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT))

I have posted this question here: http://community.office365.com/en-us/forums/158/p/169331/492158.aspx#492158 and they told me to post here for exchange help.

Any help would be appreciated.

Exchange Backup Fails Using Windows Server Backup - The application will not be available for recovery from this backup. the consistency check failed

Our server was running out of free disk space so I moved many Exchange log files to another system.  Now, my backups are stating that: The application will not be available for recovery from this backup. the consistency check failed.

I don't have the free space to move the log files back to the server volume.  In addition, the new log files are not getting removed since the backup is not working properly.

How can I get a good backup and get the remaining log files removed?

Delay in RECEIVING Email - Exchange Server 2007 & Outlook 2010

Hi,

can anyone tell me how to investigate further to determine the causes of delay in receiving emails. i'ved check the email security system and shows that the server accepted the email at 5:30PM but on the email was sent 12:40 PM.

i also did the email message tracking and gave me the same result.. is there a way to see some logs/reports on why this happens...so far one employee was concern about this.

we are using Exchange Server 2007 and Outlook 2010.
