Exchange 2013 2xMB 2x CAS Low Memory Usage

$

Hi,

i have an Exchange 2013 deployment on Windows Server 2012 R2, virtualized with VMWare.

Exchange 2013 is deployed with 2 CAS Servers and 2 Mailbox Server with DAG.

The Mailbox Servers hosts about 900 GB of Exchange Database. They have 40 GB Memory assigned.

As i can see, they are only using 22% of the available memory and the Disk and CPU usage is high.

How can i configure Exchange 2013 to use all memory available?

Hello,

When I moved our Exchange 2010 server running on 2008 R2 from a VMware 5.1 environment to a VMware 5.5 environment, these errors started to appear...

SACL Watcher servicelet encountered an error
while monitoring SACL change.

Got error 1722 opening group policy on system DC.DOMAIN.COM in domain
DOMAIN.

I have tried numerous reboots like it was suggested in other forums, but we are still getting the errors.  We also tried rebooting the DC and switching VM hosts.

Any other ideas, thanks

Chris

Export PST emails in different Language

Hi,

As of last week I've noticed that the automated emails form the System Mailbox "SystemMailbox{e0dc1c29-89c3-4034-b678-e6c29d823ed9}" that tell me a PST Export has begun from Exchange 2013, are in Hebrew...

Not sure why? As far as I can see there are no language settings on the accounts itself. Nothing on the servers in Language or Region (if it matters) shows as it being in anything other than English.

It's not causing an issue, but I need to know really why it's happening.

The other crazy side of this is the "Completion emails" are in English.

Any help with this would be really appreciated.

I can´t access EAC by CAS name server

Hi people,

I´ve just installed my new Exchange 2013 SP1 environment in a new domain.

I´ve installed two Mailbox server and two Client Access servers, I´ve started the installation with two mailbox serves and to continue I´ve installed the Client Access servers. When I finished the installation in each server I restarted it.

Now, my problema is the Access to Exchange Administration Center.

I´m trying with https://servercas1.domain.local/ecp orhttps://servercas2.domain.local/ecp

In both cases, Internet explorer sais "this page can´t be displayed"

I´ve checked the Ecpvirtualdirectory in PowerShell, and internal url is correct: https://servercas1.domain.local/ecp in the first CAS andhttps://servercas2.domain.local/ecp in the second CAS.

I´ve tried Access by IP, but with the same result...

Finally, I´ve tried the Access with https://localhost/ecp and it Works!

But... I want to Access by name, no by localhost....

Someone knows why I can´t Access by name??

I understand the Access to EAC is only possible through the CAS, because in the Mailbox doesnt work it, right?

Thanks and Best regards.

I have installed Exchange 2013CU7 on Server 2012 R2 in a VM.  I have removed and reinstalled several times and saw this error on each installation.  It happens a few times a day, somewhat randomly.  As far as I can tell nothing is impacted in terms of server function.

MS Exchange GAL update glitch

$

Hello all, I am facing a little update glitch from MS Exchange GAL.

What I did:

  1. We had a directive from HR to do a clean-up of the Exchange, and filling in details such as Chinese names for those people who were not updated.
  2. I added the names as well as changed the display name to fulfill the criteria, i.e. YEO, Jeremy to become YEO, xxx xxx Jeremy.
  3. This was reflected in the GAL after re-population after a certain number of hours.

What happened after:

  1. HR came back with another directive to change the display name on the GAL back to the original value, i.e. YEO, Jeremy.
  2. We made the changes and most of the names were changed back to default, however,
  3. Some names refused to changed even after GPO refresh and allowing half a day to refresh policies.

What I tried to rectify:

  1. I went in EMS and using administrative rights, I forced the GAL to repopulate manually. This was done yesterday evening at 5pm+.
  2.  I also went to EMC to update the offline address book manually. This was also done at 5pm+ yesterday, after running the command to update the GAL on EMS.
  3. Till now, no update has been seen. There are still users whose names refused to be changed. One example is the user “PEH, Evelyn”. Under Exchange, her names has been changed but inside the GAL, her full name is still being shown. She is not the only one affected.

I would like to ask, is anyone of you able to provide an explanation for this, and if you can advise, how long will GAL take to update? Microsoft Knowledge Base article said “several hours” based on the Exchange kb but it’s been more than 12 hours since I manually ran the commands to update the GAL.

Much appreciated.

Cant access ECP after the installation of cu7

Hello guys,

I am confronting a weird issue, i installed exchange 2013 cu7 a week ago and since then i am not able anymore to login to ECP as administrator. In fact i can login but the server is forwarding the request to OWA (Account Options of administrator).

I figured out how to Enable/Disable the admin with the following exchange powershell command:

Set-ECPVirtualDirectory -Identity "hostname exchange\ecp (default web site)" -AdminEnabled $True

Is there an other way of doing that? Something like that the admin will be enabled on internal LAN but not from the internet...?

Exchange Server 2013 ignores attachment size setting for external outbound mail

Hi there,

Hopefully somebody can help because I really can't see what's going on here.

  • The maximum receive size is set to 100MB in all my receive connectors.
  • The maximum send size is set to unlimited in my send connector.
  • Mailboxes do not have any specific limits set
  • No mail rules are set up
  • I have no limits set anywhere else
  • I followed a post that suggested editing limits using ADSI editor here and the values were indeed set to 10MB. I changed it to 200MB, and rebooted the server

I can send attachments between Exchange accounts that are larger than 10MB, and I can also receive attachements from external addresses that are larger than 10MB. But whenever I try to send one externally, I get the following error:

This message wasn't delivered to anyone because it's too large. The limit is 9 MB. This message is 23 MB.

This message is larger than the size limit for messages. Please make it smaller and try sending it again.

Coexistence - Can you force 2013 CAS to redirect legacy users to their 2010 CAS pool (rather than 2013 CAS proxying the connection)?

$

We have stood up a side-by-side 2013 environment. We are changing from usmail.domain.com to mail.domain.com for our 2013 environment. The cert going on our 2013 environment will have autodiscover.domain.com and mail.domain.com on it only. From a user experience standpoint, when Outlook tries mail.domain.com for a user whose mailbox resides on our usmail.domain.com system and then connects there, currently they hit a 2013 CAS which tries to proxy their connection to the 2010 environment. They get a cert error since the old FQDN is not on the new cert used on the 2013 CAS servers.

We want to know if an admin can force all 2013 CAS servers to redirect (rather than proxy) either to the given assigned 2010 CAS value or to a hard value that we manually enter. This is so we don't need to include usmail.domain.com on our new certificate.

Is this something I can control (i.e. set via shell?)

Lock down Exchange 2013 ECP to internal access only

I'm concerned about the ECP on Exchange 2013 being accessible from the outside world. Is there a preferred method of disabling access to ECP from the outside while still allowing OWA and everything else?

Exchange 2013 error 500 by accessing ECP as admin

$

I have a small Exchange 2013 (SP1) site with just one CAS.

By accessing of the CAS, OWA runs properly for each user and also the options-page is well available – not so by accessing it as "admin" because of the "error 500". The same occurs by accessing ECP directly viahttps://cas/ecp: after passing of credentials the normal options-page occurs for each user – not so for the admin.

After CU5 upgrade, can no longer manage "Apps for Outlook" - Could not locate Client Access Virtual Directory object with InternalUrl stamped for service

We recently upgraded our exchange 2013 servers to CU5. Now when we go to "Apps" under "Organization" in ECP or "Manage Apps" in OWA, we get the following error:

error
Could not locate Client Access Virtual Directory object with InternalUrl stamped for service. Last server checked: ExcServer

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Exchange 2013 - Unable to recreate ECP Virtual Directory using New-EcpVirtualDirectory

$

Hello,

I had a problem accessing ECP so I decided to recreate its virtual directory on the client access server. I used Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory. The cmd completed successfully. Then I tried running New-EcpVirtualDirectory and am getting the following error:

Argument: -Role ClientAccess
    + CategoryInfo          : InvalidArgument: (:) [New-EcpVirtualDirectory], ArgumentException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 3C22AE5F,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.NewEcpVirtualDirectory

Running the command using the -role clientaccess parameter doesn't change the outcome. I have tried running the Exchange setup using the recoverserver switch but the installator is unable to detect any problems with the installation and refuses to continue with the recover. Any thoughts?

Not able to see mailbox for disabled user in Exchange 2013

$

We are using Exchange 2013 on-premises (in hybrid mode with Exchange Online) and we have AD on-premises as well.  When users separate from our company, we expire their AD account and migrate their Office 365 mailbox back to our on-premises environment so that we can archive their data, etc.  It works fine, except when we expire a user account in AD, we can no longer see the user mailbox in the on-premises 2013 EAC after it is migrated.  There is a message on the mailbox recipient screen which states There are more results available than are currently displayed and next to it there is a hyperlink messageGet All Results, and while that is true that there are more results then can be displayed (even withitems per page set to 500), we are using reverse sorting (descending) on the columnMailbox Type.  It shows the local 2013 User mailboxes first and if I scroll down, it shows some of theOffice 365 mailboxes with more on the next pages, etc. (so I am seeing all of the local 2013User mailboxes that the EAC has to display).  My problem isn’t the number of items displayed, mine is a problem that I do not see any of the mailboxes for AD user accounts which have expired already (these aren't disabled or disconnected AD user accounts).  If I search in the EAC using the name of an expired AD user account that has a mailbox, it displays the mailbox properly.  If I choose the “…” and then Advanced search and set Recipient Types to User Mailbox, all local mailboxes show up (including the expired AD account mailboxes).  If I click on theGet All Results, it shows all mailboxes correctly.

Why does the EAC default to hiding a mailbox when the AD user object is Expired?  Is there a way to change the default behavior so that the Exchange 2013 EAC doesn’t hide mailboxes for users with expired AD objects (user accounts)?

Thanks
