I have an exchange 2013 server that is set for outbound mail only. Inbound mail is disabled by intention. I had an issue whereby the transport and frontend transport services would not run simultaneously. So i shut off frontend transport
and turned on transport and outbound mail is processing successfully. My question is was frontend transport being shutdown automatically because inbound mail is turned off? I've read that frontend transport acts as a proxy for all inbound and
(optionally) outbound messages. Does this mean that if you disable inbound messaging then frontend transport shutting off is normal?
