Exchange Server 2013 Report tools
Hey folks,
I was curious what was a recommended reporting tool for Exchange 2013. Is there a handy out-of-the-box solution for reporting Mailbox trends, sizes? Reports on general email usage for users, groups etc? Would there be a solution that offers reports, but also offers real time alerts, say if the DAG goes down or there's something nasty going on with the server?

Disk space utilization too fast
Dear All,
I am running Exchange 2013 on two Servers. One is CAS and other is Mailbox server and both servers have different partitions. On mailbox server OS installed on has C drive, D drive has mailbox and E has logs files. I noticed that on C drive disk space is reducing too quickly that has 150 GB space which is now 20 GB remaining. I would like to know which services or logs are increasing on C drive that are utilizing too fast.
Any idea how to remove the old logs files to increase the drive space.

Search and Delete Message
Hello,
Is there an option or power shell command to search and delete messages using "Date and Time" query. There are some suggestions online that I found on TechNet, but these are specific to Subject and attachment. What if you want to research by Date and Time?
Samples that I found online:

Which Throttling Policy applies when accessing another mailbox
Hello,
Wandering around I discovered throttling policies. I read some documentation but there is still one question in my mind :
In the case of User B connecting to User A mailbox on which User B has been granted with full access, which throttling policies apply (in the case of course where both policies are different)? User A's? User B's ? Or maybe a mix of both, using the most limiting value ?

I saw this entry a few times so I filtered on it and found that we had 70 instances of this in the last 24 hours. I am not sure if this is saying that we are having database corruption or that it is just updating
some kind of search index.
I went into powershell and ran the following command to help identify the user and database.
Get-Mailbox "GUIDFromEvent" | fl name, database
I noticed that all the users were from the same database. So I am not sure if this is saying something is wrong with that database or not. I found the following link.

Outlook 2013 Global Address List not updating in cached mode
The Global address book in not updating for all users in cached mode in Outlook 2013 or anyone using Outlook
Looking at the Exchange server 2010
In the folder location
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB\{ID}
the LZX files are created everyday until 9th July 2015 when a problem started.
In the exchange mangament console under organization configuration, mailbox and Offlince address book the Default Offline address book has not been modified since 09 July 2015
If I manually right click Update I get a error message.
Action 'Update' could not be performed on object 'Default Offline Address Book'.

When searching for this issue others suggested looking for the Service called Exchange System Attendant, but the System Attendant service is not listed in services.
My Environment is Windows Server 2008 R2 x64.

X500 Address not helping NDR
I have a user account where the user wanted to fully remove their mailbox and get a new one. I disabled the mailbox from EX2013, then deleted it, afterwards i created a new mailbox for the user and everything is as he wanted it, however his LegacyExchangeDN doesn't match the global address book X500 address
the users LegacyExchangeDN is
/o=ORG/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=7e474ce46d4045df808fe747bb68e2da-First Last
the GLA has the entry as
/o=ORG/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=flast@ORG.com
I configured the mailbox X500 address as
/o=ORG/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=flast@ORG.com
when i type in the employees name into outlook and press CTRL+K (or when selecting the user from the GLA) it NDRs the following
IMCEAEX-_o=ORG_ou=Exchange+20Administrative+20Group+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_cn=Recipients_cn=flast@ORG.com Remote Server returned '550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found'
Now as i understand it the X500 address should catch the delta in the LegacyDN and deliver the email to the mailbox however every single time it just NDRs

On my Exchange 2013 servers I´m getting these alerts.
Any idea of the cause? 6 servers CU9.
Mailbox Transport Submission - the verification that the probe messages were successfully submitted within 5 minutes to HUB has failed.
This could indicate that the mailbox submissions are taking too long or not progressing at all.

DLP EXAMPLES
I would like to know what are the implementations i can do with DLP in exchange 2013. \
currently we have the following DLP rule in place Credit Card Number & IBAN number.
I am from UAE and the existing DLP sensitive information types, DLP Templates don't have any classification for UAE region. Only saudi region is included which is not same as UAE region.
I tried searching over the internet but couldn't find any suitable examples for DLP implmentation
i would appreciate if i can get some more DLP examples to implement in my current infrastructure.

Risks when performing offline defragmentation
Hello guys!
We want to shrink the size of our mail databases. To do that, we need to perform an offline defrag of the database. The problem for us is that we only have 2 days for the defrag to complete (weekend). I want to ask you guys if that is possible AND if the job does not complete, can we cancel it without issues? In the latter case, is the database then partially shrinked or does it need to fully complete to shrink?
We run Exchange 2010 SP3, have 2 mail databases and 2 archive databases. The primary are both around 500GB and have 85 and 35 GB available whitespace. This is the value of the property "availablenewmailboxspace". I know there could be much more white space in mailboxes, but maybe we can use this as an indication. If there is a lot of extra white space that could have serious impact on the duration of the job.
We also have 2 archive databases, which are both around 1400 GB and have 80GB and 160 GB of white space. Again, the "but" above does apply.
The underlying storage is a raid 10 volume, which contains of 24x 10k 1,2 TB disks.
Does anyone have experience with this and possibly a similar setup? Is there any other info you might need? Again, I want to see if we can get the offline defrag done during the weekend and want to know if I can stop the job without any complications. I also would like to find out if, when we stop the job half way, the DB is partially shrunk or totally not.

EventID 2937 Exchange 2013 CU9 MSExchangeADAccess
We had our 2013 cu9 mailbox server crash on us today. After it came backup I noticed several warnings about the database objects pointing to the deleted objects container in active directory. I have seen others mention this in Exchange 2010, but we are running 2013 CU9 and have never run 2010. We upgraded from 2007. There are two different warnings involved. One is property for PublicFolderDatabse for the email databases and powershell. The other mentioned the MTA on smarthost connector:

What are the tasks that can only be done through Exchange Powershell only ?
Hi,
From what I can see and read through various news about Exchange Server 2013, there are some tasks that must/can only be done through Powershell instead ofExchange Admin Console in Exchange Server 2013 SP1 orOffice 365 ?
All of my team members are familiar with Exchange Server 2007/2010 Management Console,I will need to know the list of things that must be done through Powershell console for education purpose.

Exchange Health manager service terminating CU7
I have noticed that since installing CU7 that the health manager service is terminating fairly regularly on our mailbox servers. It does not seem to do this on the CAS servers. So we will just see event 7031 in the event logs with the usual helpful message

Exchange 2016 cannot remove database
Hi all,
just installed a single Exchange 2016 server on a clean and new environment.
I create new database and moved all mailboxes, include arbitration to the new database. When I try to delete the old database I get the following error:
This mailbox database contains one or more mailboxes, mailbox plans, archive mailboxes, public folder mailboxes or arbitration mailboxes.
I have checked, and the database does not contain any of these mailboxes. Status of the old database is:
Active Mounted
Copy queue length: 0
Content index state: Healthy
I have rebooted server several times, but did not help.
Did I miss something?

Cant open Outlook 2013
I just purchased new computer with windows 10 and office 365. I already have another computer running outlook 365 and that one installed and works fine. I enter my exchange server settings exactly the same way as the other computer, and OUTLOOK doesnt start. i get the message THE CONNECTION TO MICROSOFT EXCHANGE IS UNAVAILABLE. OUTLOOK MUST BE ONLINE or CONNECTED TO COMPLETE THIS ACTION. Then a microsoft screen appears where i can enter my Micrsosoft exchange server and Mailbox info. no matter what i push next (either the CHECK NAME or the OK button), immediately the message appears : THE NAME CANNOT BE RESOLVED. HE CONNECTION TO MICROSOFT EXCHANGE IS UNAVAILABLE. OUTLOOK MUST BE ONLINE or CONNECTED TO COMPLETE THIS ACTION. That message pops up immediately, as if it never actually checks. Then i have to click OK, and immediately the message appears CANNOT START MICROSOFT OUTLOOK. CANNOT OPEN THE OUTLOOK WINDOW. THE SET OF FOLDERS CANNOT BE OPENED. THE FILE C:\USERS\Roman\APPDATA\LOCAL\MICROSOFT\OUTLOOK.OST is not an OUTLOOK DATA FILE (.ost).
I am connected to the internet and i entered the same settings as my other devices that work just fine. HELP!
