Hi everyone,
for a couple of days users receive the following error when they try to connect to OWA.
The error occured suddenly, nothing was changed at the configuration.
its Exchange 2013 with CU10 and Windows 2012 R2 Servers.
2 CAS and 2 Mailbox Servers within a DAG.
X-ClientId: KQYO - LXOX - ESTK - YVPBVMLG X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;System.Xml.XmlException X-OWA-Version: 15.0.1130.7 X-FEServer: *Server* X-BEServer: *Server* Date: 18.01.2016 10:06:35
*url*owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?owaError=SDServerErr;System.Xml.XmlException&owaVer=15.0.1130.7&be=*server*&msg=ErrorUnexpectedFailure
I tried it already with deleting canary data values in the AD. Did not helped.
I have no more ideas for solving this issue. Maybe somebody here could help me.
Thanks.
Hi!
When I open some distributiongroups in EAC I get unexpected error 500. This seems to only happen on groups created long time ago on Exchange 2003. Groups created on Exchange 2010 seems to work ok in EAC. If I use set-distributiongroup on that same list it works ok. All distributiongroups are still on Exchangeversion 14. I have tried to upgrade them to 15 with no luck. Tried with set-distributiongroup and also with -forceupgrade but everytime it says "The command completed successfully but no settings of X have been modified". All groups are universal and there is no corruption in them as I can see. If I create a new Group from EAC it also gets exchangeversion 14..
Everything else seems to work just fine.

Hi all,
I have the existing scenario:
A shared mailbox with name "shared" (messagecopyforsendasenabled=true) which forwards to a distribution group shared_group.
Users A and B are members of the group, and also have send as permission for mailbox shared.
The feature works as expected when user A sends as Shared, a copy of sent items is saved in both A and shared mailboxes.
The problem is that, user B also has a copy of a message send by A (as shared) in his personal sent items and vice versa.
So users do not only get a copy of the sent items they send in their personal mailbox, the get a copy of every email that gets send as regardless who sent it.
Im sure thats not expected behavior.
Can anyone advise?
Hi- New Deployment to support a 2010 migration: 3 servers, Windows 2012 R2, dual-role Hyper-V guests, part of a DAG. "Server 1" runs this command with no issues. "Server 2" and "Server 3" display this error:
Get-ServerHealth is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program.
Servers are virtually identical.
Thanx

Hi Technet,
I have 2 exchange 2010 servers in 2 different physical AD sites. Each server is Mailbox, HUB transport & CAS server. Both servers share a send connector to a smart host, with 1 receive connector configured on server 1. So all external inbound email received on server1 and transported to server 2 via WAN if necessary.
The issue i have is when searching transport log explorer via the EMC. Server 1 returns full information, I can see the messages inbound, outbound to smart host, and send to server2.
Server2 however contains very little information. I see nothing about outbound email, no send to server1, the results I do get contain no information about the recipients of the email, nor subject.
I have compared the logging settings of both servers, and they appear to be identical. I did however change the default log location on server 2 to another hard disc in the server.
Could anyone help me here with some possible solutions to the issue?
Thanks in Advance
Hi,
I'm a newbie here in managing the new Exchange Server 2013 organization, hence can someone please clarify each of the highlighted entries in my AD please:
I only know about System Mailbox account but what about the rest of the disabled account ?
Can I move them to custom OU for cleanup with no effect on email flow ?
Thanks.

I found error on my Mailbox server and can't find any description for this error:

Exch_administrator - this is my user account. Any suggestion what it is can be?
What am I doing wrong?
I have deployed the Exchange 2013 MP (15.0.666.19) into SCOM and followed the MP guide to get it configured. All MP discoveries are enabled (most were disabled by default) yet the management pack is only partially working.
The AD site view has discovered but constantly shows the state as grey:
The Database Availability Group also only shows a greyed state:
But the health sets have discovered, all green and happy:
But the organisation view is not monitored:
Whilst the servers themselves are discovered and happy:
What can I do to fix these issues? I have tried a stop start using maintenance mode, but the views all refresh back to these settings. Could this be a permissions issue?
I have also enabled verbose logging via an override and will be seeking to see if I can spot anything in the Operations Manager event logs.
I'd be glad of any guidance or advice from the msdn community! Has anybody else encountered this?
Searching results on the Client are missing or not appearing.
I'm using Outlook 2013. When I'm conducting a search for an email I have the settings to entire mailbox.
The email was yesterday and I can see the email. I took a word from the subject line and tried to search for this email. It did not come up even though I can see the email. I tried other searches and they are not finding it either. So then I tried to search for the same email in OWA and I didn't get good results there either. I upgraded to CU11 for Exchange 2013. What else can I do to improve results when searching? Do I need to rebuild an index with Exchange 2013 or what function do I need to do to improve searches with Exchange 2013?
hi hall
i am trying to create distribution group on exchange 2013 and when trying to add member to this group it shows me that the total mail box i have on my exchange some times 600 mailbox and sometimes 800 and sometimes 450 every time is is showing different number .
this happen on my three server of Exchange .
any idea how to fix this ?
Hi All,
As part of a cheap and cheerful monitoring solution I'm developing for an Exchange environment, I'm enumerating all the mailbox databases in the exchange organization, and display some of the properties of them (i.e. Database Size, whether it's mounted, which server it's mounted on, Is Circular Logging enabled, when was the last successful backup).
I've managed to gather all the data and present it correctly when running as my own user account, however, I'd like this to be able to run without any elevated credentials. The problem is, I can't find where to grant the permissions to view certain attributes (or just view all the attributes) of a mailbox database, without granting it permissions on all the mailboxes in that database.
Does anyone have any ideas where I could apply these permissions?
I just installed Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 onto a Microsoft Server 2012 and I'm unable to get to the management console.
When I tried this, https://<servernameFQDN>/ecp it fails with
HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.
Detailed Error Information:
Module IIS Web Core
Notification MapRequestHandler
Handler StaticFile

Physical Path C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ecp (this part is of special focus because no such directory exists)
Logon Method Anonymous
Logon User Anonymous
There are two "web sites" on that IIS server; Default and Exchange Backend. Ports used for Default are 80 and 443. Ports used for Exchange Backend are 81 and 444. I've made NO post-installation configuration changes. Everything is exactly as the Exchange Installation set it to. During installation, everything was left at the default settings except one item; the installation target path was changed from using drive "C:" to drive "E:", which is using the ReFS file system.
If I attempt to go to https://<servernameFQDN:444>/ecp I get to the login screen, as I should. But when I login, I'm taken to Outlook Web App.
I am seeing many Event ID 6 get parameter errors. When I open a distribution group on the GUI, and select the members tab, it takes 10 minutes for the members to load. When I look at the event log a long list of these kinds of errors come up:

Looking for a little assistance on figuring out how to fix our Exchange 2013. Currently our Exchange 2013 server is running on a Windows 2012 R2 server and is functioning correctly(email is flowing correctly don't appear to be getting any event log errors referencing the exchange server. But our monitoring and checking the performance monitoring it appears that there may be an issue with the database cache/database or something. While monitoring the Exchange server the Database Cache percent hit continues to report 0% and then ever so often reports 100%, but doesn't report normally in the 90's.
I understand what the Database Cache percent hit is reporting but want to see what can be done to fix/resolve the issue.
Hi- I'm in the middle of a 2010 to 2013 migration. All traffic is currently coming through the 2013 Server. After the cut-over some messages are not being delivered.
The error that seems to be the most relevant is "450, 4.7.1 Client Host Rejected Cannot Find Your Reverse Hostname"
HOWEVER, this is coming from the people still on the 2010 server. The 2013 Server does have a different namespace.
Does the default receive connector on the 2010 Server need to have the new namespace? An internal DNS issue?
Before the cut-over, mail was being sent and received on both servers without error.
Thanx

Dear All,
I need your expert Advice on updating my exchange server 2013 CU7 to CU 10. Below is the high level configuration of my environment.
AD site Name :- ProdSite
CAS servers :- 2 CAS servers dedicated to accept connection for internet based client (OWA/Activesync/outlook), both sitting behind F5 HLB dedicated pool.
Multi-role servers:- 3 Multi-role Server which holds MBX/CAS roles on it, sitting behind F5 HLB dedicated pool
Journaling server :- 1 MBX server which only has MBX role on it for Journaling.
Now my question how should i start the upgrade, should i first upgrade the 2 dedicated CAS and 1 Journaling server in one weekend i.e Saturday one at a time and remaining 3 multi-role server servers in next weekend.
Or should i plan to upgrade the 3 multi-role servers in first weekend and then upgrade other 3 server (2 CAS+1 Journaling) in next weekend.
Just want to make sure i am not breaking the connectivity for external clients. As most of my clients connect ~ 3500 users from internet.

Can someone please direct me to the best document detailing the procedure for removing a dead/missing/gone-for-good Exchange 2013 server from an organization and from a database availability group.
This particular mailbox server failed during a reboot and will not return. Thankfully there are other mailbox servers which have taken over the databases due to DAG. The issue is removing the missing server from configuration.
I need to know how to remove it from the DAG before log files completely fill the volume they're on. Then of course every mention of it needs to be removed from the organization (with ADSI edit?)
I found a couple documents online but they did not appear to be official and they did not address the DAG issue.
Please help - thanks.

I work for a group of companies - one parent company and 4 separate companies that it owns.
They all have separate systems - different domains, etc. and are on physically separate sites. They are all fairly small companies and each has a single on-site Exchange server serving just that site/company.
All sites use Outlook Anywhere so require a third party certificate.
My question is can I use a single third party (SAN) certificate for all 4 Exchange servers or do I need separate certificates for each?
Many thanks in advance for help with this :-)
This is rather frustrating. I have been going back and forth with this for a while. We can't change the passwords for users.
I go in to the EAC, Permissions, Admin Roles, Organization Management, then try to add in the role for Reset Passwords. Go to save and I get the following.
You don't have access to create, change, or remove the "Reset Password-Organization Management" management role assignment. You must be assigned a delegating role assignment to the management role or its parent in the hierarchy without a scope restriction.
That's fine, so I do a bunch of research and everyone says the same things. Almost everyone cheers that this did the trick.
Almost everyone cheers that this did the trick. Unfortunately as soon as I enter the Install-CannedRbacRoles in to the Exchange Shell I get the following.
Install-CannedRbacRole : The term 'Install-CannedRbacRole' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet, function, script file, or operable program. Check the spelling of the name, or if a path was included, verify that the path is correct and try again. There are a whopping 2 Google entries I found searching "The term 'Install-CannedRbacRole' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet" No one has answered the question of where to go if the Install-CannedRbacRole is unable to be used. Everything is being entered in to the Exchange Shell from Admin accounts ran as Administrator. Any ideas what is going on here?
