$

I have installed Exchange 2013CU7 on Server 2012 R2 in a VM.  I have removed and reinstalled several times and saw this error on each installation.  It happens a few times a day, somewhat randomly.  As far as I can tell nothing is impacted in terms of server function.

Cannot Open Outlook Without Changing Settings

Hi- I'm doing an upgrade/migration from Exchange 2010. Single Site, Single Domain. My Exchange 2013 environment is made up of three Hyper-V guests running on Windows Server 2012 R2. I've created an initial mailbox on Exchange 2013 and have migrated two mailboxes from 2010.

The issue is that I can't log into Outlook unless I do one of two things:

1. Add a registry entry to HKCU\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider\ to define the DS Server, or

2. When I go into the Outlook Profile on the PC and change the connection settings to Connect to Microsoft Exchange using HTTP

It's my understanding that Outlook should log in automatically by using Autodiscover. But I'm using the same namespace for my 2013 install so how do I differentiate between the old 2010 server and the new2013 server?

Thanx

Active Sync Reporting Iphone Models Strangely

We are seeing devices listed in ActiveSync that are showing up as strange model numbers. For instance we have users showing model 7C1, 7C2, 8C1 and 8C2. This is causing problems with our MDM software.

Can anyone explain why it is reporting models that do not yet even exist?!?  We are running Exchange 2010 on RU9.

Server missing after installing CU11

I installed Exchange 2013 CU10 in my 2010 organization. When running get-clientaccessserver I was able to see the Exchange 2013 server. I updated the Exchange 2013 server to CU11 and now I don't see the server 2013 server. I ran the BPA but it didn't find anything. Has anyone else experienced this?

Low disk space monitoring in Exchange 2013

$

As an example my Director wants cascading low disk space alerts setup for Exchange, such as;

An alert at 10% or 100GB, if not resolved then

An alert at 9%  or 90GB, if not resolved then

An alert at 8%  or 80GB, if not resolved then

an so on.

Can't seem to get this in OpsMngr2012 where it will send multiple alerts. They have to be resolved. Exchange has the built-in Server Health monitors, but again it will alert on one value.

Any ideas on what would work?

I'm exporting some MBs to PST and I'm getting these events on our Exchange 2013 server where the mailboxes are. We still have some Exchange 2010 servers in our site and it appears that the process is looking for a Discovery mailbox.

Cannot get into GUI-based (ECP) Exchange Server 2013 Management Console

I just installed Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 onto a Microsoft Server 2012 and I'm unable to get to the management console.

When I tried this, https://<servernameFQDN>/ecp it fails with

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found

The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Detailed Error Information:

Module  IIS Web Core

Notification  MapRequestHandler

Handler  StaticFile

Error Code  0x80070002

Requested URL  https://<servernameFQDN>:443/ecp

Physical Path  C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ecp  (this part is of special focus because no such directory exists)

Logon Method  Anonymous

Logon User  Anonymous

There are two "web sites" on that IIS server; Default and Exchange Backend. Ports used for Default are 80 and 443. Ports used for Exchange Backend are 81 and 444. I've made NO post-installation configuration changes. Everything is exactly as the Exchange Installation set it to. During installation, everything was left at the default settings except one item; the installation target path was changed from using drive "C:" to drive "E:", which is using the ReFS file system.

If I attempt to go to https://<servernameFQDN:444>/ecp I get to the login screen, as I should. But when I login, I'm taken to Outlook Web App.

what is the recommendation on mailbox size , when it comes to MS Exchange 2013 On premise installation ? Please advise if the limit is on mailbox size or number of items in a folder on the mailbox ? Exchange online, I see offers 50Gb per mailbox. is that a limit for MS Exchange 2013 platform? (we use Exchange 2013 Enterprise - On premise) . We have been facing issues (sync issues - calendar entry corruptions on a mailbox which is syncing with multiple outlook and active sync mobile clients )  with few mailboxes close to 50Gb in size and would like to know if that's due to , mailbox size limitations.

PUBLICFOLDER DATABASE

Greetings Allen Mock,
Thanks for sharing the above video. Good to understand.
I have started the PUBLICFOLDER Database migration from Ex 2010 to Exchange 2013.
But its failed @ 10%.
PFB the error message at the bottom of this page.
Error:Fatal error DataValidationException has occurred.
Problem Description: Am unable to see\view\access the Publicfolder database under the Server configuraation in the Exchange management conosle in the Exchange 2010 server.
However all the user are able to access the public folders from their Outlooks without any single issue.
I have verified with the command & found that the Publicfolder database is available in the Ex 2010 server.
How to fix this issue.
I have googled for the above error & found that i have to verify the Public folders names. If any space is there, i have to remove the same in the name.

While this post:
https://www.gavin.pro/2015/08/26/exchange-2013-mapi-submit-monitor/

says you can safely ignore and override this monitor, I have not been able to do so. This is particularly frustrating because our SCOM server catches these alerts and shows our Exchange servers as unhealthy.

I ran the following command to override it:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-GlobalMonitoringOverride | fl

RunspaceId         : 0ffa50a4-3a83-45ed-8f30-25aadba55c3e

IsValid            : True

But the alert still returns.

I have tried overriding the Responder instead of the Monitor:

Add-GlobalMonitoringOverride -ItemType "Responder"

but the state is still unhealthy.

Any advice? Thanks!

We're exploring the available exchange reporting tools, and would like to confirm if the below information are being stored/kept on the exchange 2013, or available for retrieval:

  • Client data capturing (when sending/receiving emails from mobile, PC, OWA).
  • Daily message attachment statistics.
  • Mailbox permission changes.
  • Unauthorized mailbox login.
  • Daily mailbox login and logout.
  • User's action on mailbox storage.Include any changes in certain mailbox's storage.
  • Exchange change audit logs.
Can you please direct us for the above?

I tried to update body of an item using EWS, however, I get the following error:

Exception calling "Update"with"1" argument(s):"The invalid value '' was specified for the 'Body' element."FullyQualifiedErrorId:ServiceXmlSerializationException

Steps to reproduce problem:

$item.Body.Text = 30 -as [char]
$item.Update("AlwaysOverwrite")

Cause of error is usage of control characters (File, Group, Record, and Unit: FS, GS, RS and US).

The environment is single virtual MS Exchange 2013 server running on Windows 2012 R2. DC is running on a separate server.

I can't seem to find any articles or blogs relating to this issue.

Change Administrator password in Edge Transport server

Good afternoon!

It's time to rotate all the Admin passwords.  However, my new Exchange 2013 infrastructure adds some complexity to the mix.

Specifically, what effect would changing the Admin password on the Edge Transport have?  There are two, and they are in a Workgroup.

I don't recall any Active Directory credentials in the setup, but I might have misplaced that particular note.

Any thoughts on this?  Should be no noticeable effect, but......

Thanks!

How to remove certain email from specific users?

Dear all,

we are currently running Exchange Server 2010.

I often have a request from users to delete the email that they have accidentally sent out and failed to recall from specific mailboxes. may I know whether any command that I could run? Maybe it is best that we can delete based on subject name or maybe based on sender name within specific period of time.

Please advise.

Thanks.

LSASS.exe consuming too much CPU- Exchange server doing extensive queries

Hello,

issue is described briefly in https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/0c1d3936-beb4-40b8-afaa-5bcdd7196d3a/lsassexe-consuming-too-much-cpu-same-as-httpssupportmicrosoftcomenuskb2500682-but-our-dc?forum=winserverDS

Problem is that LSASS is high because of NSPIBind process.

Exchange is constantly quering for address books and address lists, and unsure how to make this ldap queries lighter.

LDAP queries go to:

There are a lot of search requests done every second - over 67 a second done to the CN=Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=organization,DC=priv, and a lot of others.

There are 81 deep requests (over the entire AD tree) done every second.

We have many address lists, and address books, i see too many queries going in that direction.

Any hint is more then welcome!

Thanks!
