Hi Guys,
So I have a client who wants to investigate that a very important mail sent to a user was delivered to inbox and not junk folder. The case here is this, the user failed to act on instructions contained in a mail, her excuse was that it was delivered to junk mail folder.
Now we are trying to find a way to investigate and verify whether the mail was actually delivered to inbox folder or junk folder.
Exchange version is exchange 2013 CU7
Cheers .. :)

Hi all,
Exchange 2013 CU1 has a new OWA LogOff behaviour when Basic or Windows Integrated Authentication is configured. When clicking the LogOff Button you receive the message "Close All your Browser Windows.." but OWA does not sign out. This is not the case when using Formbased Authentication...
The problem in our case is the OWA publishing over the Internet via TMG. When publishing via TMG, only Basic and NTLM authentication is supported. This means you have to change the Authentication for the OWA Virtual Directory to basic or Windows Integrated. OK so far, now we can use the TMG Authentication Form. but... TMG is not able to Catch the OWA LogOff. So we will still receive "Close all your Browser Settings.." and no log out from OWA.
It is a known issue that TMG cannot catch the OWA Logoff with the Exchange 2013 CU1 Release..So my Question:Does anyone get that "Real LogOut" fixed via TMG or directly on the CAS Server for Exchange 2013 CU1?
I know another possibility is to activate Form Based Authentication on the CAS Servers and external users directly authenticate against the CAS Server without pre-authentication at TMG Level, but this of course does not provide the highest security we can have.
Hi all
I have a customer that is moving to Exchange 2013 on prem from Exchange 2007.
They are wanting to use Archive mailboxes using Direct attached storage and 3 copies of the data and separate databases for primary mailboxes and archive mailboxes. They want to keep primary mailboxes lean and move items to the archive mailbox after 2 months. This will be implemented using retention policies. They also want to enable litigation hold on a good number of mailboxes.
Reading here it appears that there is a "Recoverable Items 14 days move to archive" default policy that should move items in the Recoverable Items folder into the archive mailbox. I assumed that this would be all Recoverable Items subfolders including DiscoveryHolds, reading the article.
During testing items that are deleted from the primary mailbox when a mailbox is on Litigation hold, stay in the DiscoveryHolds folder in primary mailbox and never seem to move to the Archive mailbox. I am using “Get-MailboxFolderStatistics -FolderScope
RecoverableItems” to view the items and sizes. Even after 18 days the items remain in the primary mailbox. Items deleted from the archive go to the DiscoveryHolds folder of recoverable items in the archive mailbox. I have tried forcing the managed folder assistant but that does not improve things
Can someone confirm how this actually works since the documentation says one thing but reality sems different. If deleted items from the primary mailbox remain in the primary mailbox then there seems little point in having archive mailboxes if litigation hold is in place. Otherwise the primary mailbox will end up having 7 years of deleted items in it as per the litigation hold duration .
Thanks
How can I enable autoreply to all of our users in exchange 2013?

Hey Guys,
I am trying to auto move the DBs using the RedistributeActiveDatabasesScript from one of the Exchange Management Server and everytime I run the script it says the below error and cannot convert the value of the DAGName. This is weird and I cannot figure out whats wrong. I am 100% sure the DAG names are correct and theats what listed under ECP too and upon doing the get-databaseavailabilitygroup i get the same DAG Name too.
PS] D:\Exchange Server\v15\Scripts>.\RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1 -DagName DAG01 -BalanceDbsByActivationPreference annot convert value "DAG01" to type Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.SystemConfiguration.DatabaseAvailabilityGroup". Error: "Cannot convert the DAG01" value of type "Deserialized.Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.SystemConfiguration.DatabaseAvailabilityGroup" o type "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Directory.SystemConfiguration.DatabaseAvailabilityGroup"." t D:\Exchange Server\v15\Scripts\RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1:2801 char:3 $script:dag = Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup $DagName -Status ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+ CategoryInfo : MetadataError: (:) [], ArgumentTransformationMetadataException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : RuntimeException Log-Error : [02:40:33.145 UTC] Could not find DAG matching 'DAG01'! t D:\Exchange Server\v15\Scripts\RedistributeActiveDatabases.ps1:2806 char:3 Log-Error ($RedistributeActiveDatabases_LocalizedStrings.res_0089 -f $DagName) ... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [Write-Error], WriteErrorException+ FullyQualifiedErrorId : Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.WriteErrorException,Log-Error
Can anyone asssit what can be the problem
When i run theGet-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup I see Correct DAG Names. I have removed the Server names here for example
[PS] D:\Exchange Server\v15\Scripts>Get-DatabaseAvailabilityGroup Name Member Servers Operational Servers ---- -------------- ------------------- DAG01 DAG02 DAG03 DAG04

Hello ,,
i have a problem after installation exchange 2013 on windows server 2012 standard r2
after installation i went to server i install the exchange and i used the browser and it went to https://localhost/ecp/
well i need to change it as examble Mail.Domain.Local
could any one help me on this please ?
From the Exchange admin center, under recipients when I select groups I get the following error:
"Your request couldn't be completed. Please try again in a few minutes."
I don't get this error anywhere else in the exchange admin center. After clicking OK on the error I can still manually type in a group and find it.
Thanks

we have a database that came up on our monitor because the space is running out. checking the message showed the threshold to be 175GB and this is while the disk size is only 170GB. I checked and there are no monitor overrides set. (global or local)
I have started to read about overrides and found myself with a bunch of unanswered questions:
1) it is from my understanding all threshold and monitoring counters are set from exchange and not SCOM. am I correct?
2) how is it possible we have a threshold of 175GB on a 170GB disk? I couldn't find anywhere what are the default threshold values, how to view them, are they programmatically (built it the program) set by percentages or values and if it is possible to change them? (or changing them are only by setting overrides?)
3) regardless of the error we have with the threshold, I wish to create an override for all log disks threshold and for all database disk threshold. I understood I need to use the 'mailboxspace' health set, but I didn't get which monitoring item name under that health set to use. I was trying to find a technote or something with a complete list of items I can use under the health set so I can choose what best suits me, but was unsuccessful. (I was hoping to find a list for all health sets so I can have in case I need more overrides in the future)
thanks in advance for the help.
Hi,
we have encountered a problem in exchange 2013. When a distribution group has more than one owner, the error message, when a message is undelivered, goes only to the first owner (alphabetically). Is there a way to get the error message to all of the owners, so they can manage and remove invalid/disabled accounts from the distribution group. Or is there a way to change the person who gets the message?
Hello All
After yesterday upgrade our exchange server to cu12 i got one healthset unhealthy.

Are there any tips how to resolve this issue? I have no clue about this.
Hi- My organization added a second domain name about a year ago. We migrated to from Exchange 2010 about six months ago. Anywho, one of my users contacted me today saying that her Outlook profile is suddenly showing the old domain name at the top of the left folder pane: "user@olddomain.com" while my profile shows "user@newdomain.com" .
I checked her AD account and the Email attribute there shows "user@newdomain.com". I thought it might be that she was using cached exchange mode, but turning that off didn't make a difference. I then went around the office and found it's about
a 50/50 split for those that show "user@olddomain.com vs "user@newdomain.com" And all show "user@newdomain.com" as the Email attribute in AD
Some of those people who show "user@newdomain.com" had their accounts/profiles created after the new domain was added and made the default SMTP but others who have had their profiles/accounts since before...
Any ideas?
Thanx

I found the following command from technet forum to stop spoofing in exchange 2013,
Remove-ADPermission <ReceiveConnector Name> –user “NT AUTHORITY\Anonymous Logon” –ExtendedRights ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender
Do i have to run this command on all the default receive connectors as shown below.
Receive Connectors Name | Roles |
Client Frontend mydomain | FrontendTransport |
Client Proxy mydomain | HubTransport |
Default Frontend mydomain | FrontendTransport |
Default mydomain | Hubtransport |
Outbound Proxy Frontend mydomain | FrontendTransport |
(I was not aware of exch 2013 forum so i had raised this issue in exch 2007 forum also)Please do advise.
Thanks.
Hi all,
Hope you can help. I remote on to an Exchange console via RDP from my local desktop and receive the below error message when trying to create new mailboxes, I think it is looking at an incorrect server. My colleague logs on to the console from my PC and is able to create mailboxes fine. Maybe account related, but why would my account look at an incorrect server?
'An Active Directory error 0x51 occured when trying to check the suitability of server 'UKDAT1DC01.hruk.pri' Error. 'Active Directory response: The LDAP server is unavailable.''
Many thanks for any help in advance.
Kind Regards
Dave
Hi- Is it possible to include a timestamp when configuring a custom SMTP banner? I've found very little on this topic...

Exchange 2013 on Server 2012. Just switched over. I have setup content filtering with SCL thresholds etc. Still getting lot of junk and reading that there's a lot of tweaking to do...in the meantime, instead of having the filtered emails sent to a general mailbox, is there a way they can be directed to the users inbox the message was intended for? We are a standalone exchange system, no edge transport server.
Thanks!
